Not a huge amount of ingredients for a curry recipe.

For a curry recipe I didn’t think there were TOO many ingredients in this dish, but, if you don’t like coriander than steer clear as it has fresh and dried/ground.

I did have to go and buy Ghee as its not a staple in my pantry, but it wasn’t too expensive so that was great. I also had to buy a chili. I have never cooked with fresh chilies before because I’m not a fan of super spicy food.

Making the Recipe – ♥ ♥ 

I am a big fan of quick cooking lol. This recipe was NOT quick and had lots of steps, which I guess is to be expected when you’re making a curry from scratch.

As I’m not a fan of spicy foods I chose to remove the seeds as I’ve heard they’re the hottest part!

My little bullet style blender did make this part easier and simpler.

The Maharajah’s Ghee was a lovely bright yellow colour! He bid me use it so I did… it was the only one in my Coles!

Tumeric, Cumin and Corriander… does it seem like it should have more spices to you? Or is it just me?

Added in the tomato paste and cooking it for 10 minutes.

Add chicken and cook for another 10 minutes before adding the cream.

Cooking Method – ♥ ♥

The cooking method was good as it was a one pot recipe, but it took a REALLY long time and it took much longer to reduce and thicken than the 23-30 minutes it stated on the recipe. Mine was closer to 45 minutes.

The Claim

Is it? Is it REALLY??

I’m going to say no. NO it wasn’t full of flavour. Yes it was very mild… like WAY mild, no heat at all and that might have been my fault for removing the seeds? Or using a smaller chili? But I did find the taste a bit bland. I think it needed more salt than the recipe stated, which I added whilst eating, but it didn’t really enhance the flavour that much.

If I decide to try this particular recipe again I will try adding more chili and see if that gives it more flavour, but I’m not sure it would help.

Also, don’t be fooled by the serving size – it says 10 servings but there is NO WAY you could get 10 meals out of this recipe. They have said 10 servings to work out their nutritional information…. but it won’t feed 10 people! I got 4 servings and they’re approx 300 grams and then I added Cauliflower Rice to pad it out.
